Health benefits of eating sushi

Here are some awesome health benefits of eating sushi

Eating sushi, and not just the California Roll, which consists of cream cheese, avocado and cucumbers, is really good for you, especially if it contains fish. Fresh fish such as salmon, tuna, herring, mackerel and cod, whether cooked or raw, contain omega-3 fatty acid, which are good for the cardiovascular and neurological systems. Omega-3s have been proven to lower cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Some articles suggest that some other health benefits of eating sushi with fish is that it may ward off lung cancer. Perhaps eating sushi is the reason that the rate of lung cancer in Japan is only two-thirds as high as in Britain. Both groups of people have a high rate of smokers in their countries.

Are there other health benefits of eating sushi?

Contrary to popular notions, sushi does not stand for raw fish. “Sushi” refers to the rice/vinegar wrap around the contents of a sushi roll. This rice/vinegar sticky mixture alone is beneficial to a person’s health as the rice often used in sushi is rich in protein and many believe it lowers blood pressure. This may account for the low rate of heart disease among the Japanese. The rice also helps in relieving diarrhea, while the vinegar can work as a diuretic or cleanser to rid the body of toxins. If the sushi isn’t wrapped in a rice/vinegar mixture, it may be held together with sheets of dried seaweed. These dark green sheets wrapped around vegetables and fish are a rich source of iodine, copper, calcium, iron and magnesium. Iodine in food is hard to come by. It is commonly found in salt, but people who have a salt restricted diet can become deficient in iodine, which is used in the thyroid for balanced hormone function and metabolism. Another health benefit of eating sushi wrapped in dried seaweed is that it provides phytonutrients and folic acid, both great antioxidants.

In addition to the health benefits of eating sushi, look at what you are eating with your sushi

What is sushi without wasabi? This hot, green paste that can clear out your sinus passages and bring tears to your eyes, is rich in Vitamin C and the isothiocyanates in wasabi might help prevent tooth decay. But a more important factor is that wasabi, if consumed regularly, has been proven to prevent blood clots from forming and stimulates the body to fight off cancers. Another accompaniment to eating sushi is pickled ginger. Long known for soothing digestive problems, ginger also relieves flatulence. Traditionally, sushi is dipped in soy sauce. Although soy sauce has a high salt content, it also has a high iron content and is a good antibacterial for the colon. With so many health benefits of eating sushi, one would wonder why it isn’t eaten all the time and in great quantities. However, even though each roll is small in size, the caloric count can be as high as 200 calories per roll, which means a boat of six rolls, no matter how healthy can mean consuming 1200 calories. For this reason it is good to compliment a sushi meal with green tea. The tannins in the tea aid the digestive tract and the catechin antioxidants can fight off bacteria vibrio, a cause of food poisoning. Plus green tea helps in weight loss. So, enjoy the sushi!

Pairing Your Sake With Your Sushi

When it comes to sushi there are a lot of different things that you should know when going out and pairing these things in your eating...I know that for me this was a really big one and was something that completely changed the way that I ate sushi from there on out.

I think that if you've got any amount of time or energy on your hands and you plan on going out and spending some time at a sushi bar these are going to be really important things to take into account...

...In today's article I'm going to be diving down and going into some of the different sake pairings and will talk about how they are really important to getting the most out of your sushi experience. I know that once I sat down and was really able to get a look at some of the different sake options and how they paired with other sushi rolls this was something that really changed the way that I ate my sushi.

I think that this is something that more people need to know about because there are really a lot of different sushi options out there so in today's article I'll be breaking down some of the different sake options that are GREAT for going out with sushi so let's go ahead and dive right in.

Pairing Your Sake With Your Sushi

Sake and sushi are two great things to put together. I think that in this day and age it's super important to make sure that you're pairing your sushi and sake together as I think this is really going to be the best way to go about doing it.

If you're not going through and getting something like this done then you're just not going to get the type of meal that you want with your sushi and I think this is something that you'll want to really pay attention to.
The thing about sake is that this is something that is an age old tradition. This is something that has been around for awhile and is something that is going to really go good with your meals and hopefully make your night.

I think that as long as you're going through and really asking your servers what the different menu items are and what some of the different sushi pairings are you're going to have a great idea of what the different sushi options are and you'll also be able to really get the best bang for your buck when it comes to your wallet and your stomach.

I think that if you've ever gone through and done this you know that there are a ton of different options out there and really something that you'll want to ask around for and is really something that is going to benefit you a lot.

I've been around sushi for awhile and this is something that I'll always love. I think that if you're a fan of sushi and you like going out and eating some of these different menu items then this is something that you'll really enjoy and will give you a ton of different options when it comes to these things.

What NOT To Do

There are a lot of different things to keep in mind when it comes to this and I think that if you've got this on your agenda and plan on going out and spending time or money out at the different restaurants then I really think you'll want to make sure you're paying attention to this.

The thing about sushi is that you really need to have at least SOME experience before going out and doing something like this because there are just so many different flavors out there if you don't know what you're doing you're just not going to be getting the types of results that you wish from your dealings.

Another thing that I really think you should be doing is going out and really testing out the market. This is a great idea for a lot of reasons and is something that I really think will help you out a lot. If you've got any time on your hands and you're looking to spending some time outdoors then I really think this is something that you'll want to do.

Putting It All Together

I think that at the end of the day this is something that is really important to know. If you're not going out and doing this then you're not going to be getting the most out of your sushi and really won't be getting the types of flavors that you're looking for in your meals.

Going out and getting sushi is really a great idea for a lot of reasons and is something that I really think will help you out a lot.

If you've got any comments or questions please feel free to leave anything below and I'd be more than happy to help you out with whatever it is you're having trouble with and I'd be more than happy to help you out with whatever it is you're having trouble with...

DIY Sushi Rolls

When it comes to sushi there are a lot of different ways to go about making this stuff...

...I think that this is a lost art for a lot of reasons but in today's article I'm going to be going into some different things that you can do to really get the most out of your sushi experience and will also go into a few different reasons this is really a simple dish to make as well.

In this day and age it's all about going organic so make sure that your ingredients are fresh otherwise as time continues you're going to have some sushi rolls that just aren't "up to par". In this day and age it's all about going out and getting things FRESH. If it's fresh then you're not going to be getting nearly the amount of quality that you could be getting otherwise.

I think this is something that a lot of people would take heart and find joy in but this is something that is a little difficult from what I hear. I think that if you're going through and doing something like this then you're really going to want to make sure that you're doing it by the book so in today's article I'll be going through some different steps to take.

Once again I've always been a huge fan of sushi and after I learned this recipe I was delighted to see just how easy this stuff was to make. In today's article I'll be getting into some different reasons this is easily one of the simplest dishes you could make and I'll also go into some cool and tasty ingredients that you can add to this as well.

DIY Sushi Rolls

Step 1.  Steam the Rice
The first thing that you're going to want to do is go out and steam your rice. This is going to be the first place to start when it comes to these things and is really not that hard to do. I think that if you're going out and making your own sushi then this is going to be the first place to start and is going to really offer you some great options for making something that is to DIE for in your home.

Step 2. Prepare the Fillings

The next thing that you're going to want to do is go out and prepare your fillings. Your fillings are going to be the next place to start and are going to make up the "bulk" of your sushi roll. This is what's going to flavor your roll and is going to give you some great options for flavors and ingredients if you're so inclined.
Some great options that you can include in this are salmon, cucumbers, beef, poultry, and all other sorts of ingredients. This is once again going to be up to you but there's really no limit to the length of things that you can do.

Step 3. Form the Maki

Now that you've gone out and made your fillings you're going to want to move on to form the maki. This is where everything start's coming together and is where you actually start seeing your sushi rolls come together. I think that this is easily the most fun step out of all of them and is really not that hard to do once you've got everything prepared...

Step 4. Add the Wasabi and Filling
The next thing that you're going to want to do is add your wasabi and then your filling. This is going to fill out your sushi and is going to give your roll it's spice. This is just one more step in the overall sushi process and is something that I really think you'll enjoy doing.

Step 5. Roll the Maki

The last step involved is to roll the maki...This is where you go through and really put everything together. I think that over time this is one of the more important things that you could do with your time so it's really important to make sure that you nail this part. If you've got anything that you're not fully understanding then please feel free to leave anything below and I'd be more than happy to take a look.

Conclusion

In conclusion this is something that everyone should know how to do. I think that in this day and age if you're not going through and really making this a priority in your life then you're just not going to have the type of sushi experiences that you've been looking for.

This is something that everyone should be doing and for the price you really can't beat the value and once again if you've got anything that you're not fully understanding then please feel free to leave anything below...also be sure to check back next week for our ongoing Fuji Sushi series, until next time!
